The Premier League side have moved quickly to secure the highly rated youngster on a two-year professional deal from the cash-strapped League One outfit
QPR have signed England Under-18 international Sam Magri following the defender's release from Portsmouth.
The 18-year-old, who has been capped at England Under-16, Under-17 and Under-18 level, has signed a two-year contract with Mark Hughes' side.
And the young defender has expressed his delight at joining at club with ambitious plans for the future.
He told the club's official website: "QPR are really going places as a club and I’m looking forward to writing the next chapter of my career here."
“I just want to keep learning and progressing as a player. The new Under-21 league is a great platform for young players like myself and I can’t wait to meet my new team-mates and start playing.”
QPR are said to have beaten several other Premier League clubs to the signing of Magri and the club's Elite Development Head Coach, Marc Bircham, believes the signing is a statement of intent for the Rs.
"There were a number of clubs in England interested in Sam so the fact he has come here shows how QPR is looked upon now by players at other teams.
"I have seen Sam play quite a few times and he is a player of potential. He is an excellent addition for us.
"His arrival is an example of what we are trying to do as a football club. The first team are working hard to raise the standard of their squad and we are doing the same at Academy level.
"Sam enjoys the art of defending but he is also comfortable on the ball and I think every modern day centre back needs to have that now.
