The Premier League outfit have moved for the French international, yet the Ligue 1 outfit's manager insists their valuations of the player are far apartLille manager Rudi Garcia has revealed that Newcastle United have made a bid for their defender Mathieu Debuchy, but has said that the club have already rejected their offer.
Debuchy has impressed in the first two Group D games of Euro 2012 for France, and the Magpies were keen to make their move for the Frenchman as clubs from across Europe have all been reported to be interested in signing the right back.
However, Garcia regards Newcastle’s bid of £4million as far too low, and joked that the Premier League side must have been bidding for a different player.
He told French website 20 minutes: "[Debuchy] is torn between staying with us and playing in the Champions League in our new stadium or going elsewhere.”
"If he does go and it is a sporting progression, then we will be happy to see him evolve - but we have not planned to replace him."
