Newcastle have beaten a host of other Premier League sides to the signatures of the highly rated Nottingham Forest pair, with the defender and goalkeeper set to be loaned backAlan Pardew has expressed delight at the imminent arrival Nottingham Forest youngsters of Jamaal Lascelles and Karl Darlow at Newcastle.
The clubs have been active in the transfer market, with Ayoze Perez, Jack Colback, Siem de Jong, Remy Cabella, Emmanuel Riviere and Facundo Ferreyra all arriving at St James' Park so far this summer.
Goal understands Lascelles and Darlow are set to also sign, with the pair to be loaned back to the club for the Championship season, and Pardew is thrilled to be able to recruit the highly rated pair.
"Every time we sign a player we think it's good business," he told reporters. "We think it's part of what we do.
"It's our judgement. They are two great assets for Newcastle United."
A host of Premier League clubs are interested in the pair, with Lascelles also wanted by QPR and Manchester City after represented England at various youth levels.
Darlow, 23, is regarded as one of England's brightest goalkeeping prospects and established himself as Forest No.1 towards the end of the 2012-13 season.
