Paris Saint-Germain have told Inter that they have no intention of selling Ezequiel Lavezzi but the Serie A side could still pursue a move for the forward before the end of the summer transfer window.

The Nerazzurri have already been knocked back in moves for Tottenham's Erik Lamela, Southampton striker Dani Osvaldo and Stefan Jovetic of Manchester City in recent weeks.

As a result, they turned their attention towards the Argentina star, following initial interest in the player back in January, but their approach was again not welcomed by the Ligue 1 champions.

Inter were given hope as Lavezzi is yet to put pen to paper on a new and improved contract on the back of weeks of negotiations, though he is expected to sign fresh terms in the near future.

But with Angel Di Maria the subject of a proposed €60 million (£47.5m) switch to the French capital, that could open the door for the 29-year-old's exit, meaning that Inter have not given up all hope of luring him to San Siro.

Rivals AC Milan were also keen on Lavezzi but PSG remained firm in their stance as they bid to assemble a side to win their third straight title next season.

The ex-Napoli man's current deal in Paris runs until the summer of 2016.
