The Vicente Calderon chief is looking for a way to keep the Belgian keeper on a permanent basis after his three-year loan spell at the clubAtletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo has confirmed that his side will try to sign Thibaut Courtois on a permanent basis this summer.
The Belgian goalkeeper has been on loan at the Vicente Calderon from Chelsea since 2011, helping the Spanish club life the 2011-12 Europa League and last season's Copa del Rey.
However, with his latest temporary spell is set to finish at the end of June, Cerezo is eager to tie him down to a permanent stay if possible.
"Courtois is an Atletico player until the end of the season. After that, we'll try to sign him if Chelsea want to," he is quoted as saying by AS.
"If he doesn't, we'll look for a formula that will see him continue at Atletico next year."
The 21-year-old signed for the Blues in a deal worth just under €9 million (£7.5m) but was sent on loan to La Liga before making an appearance for the west Londoners.
