Orlando Pirates renew Mahamutsa's contract

Orlando Pirates central defender Rooi Mahamutsa has extended his stay at Bucs by signing a three year deal with the Buccaneers

The hard-tackling centre-back joined Bucs in 2008 from National First Division (NFD) side Witbank Spurs. Ever since then ''Ngubo', as he's affectionately known, has been a regular for the Soweto giants.

“I had a meeting with the chairman to finalise my deal. The whole process was straightforward, I’ll be playing here for a further three years now. I can concentrate on getting back to full fitness so that I can do what I love – playing football," Mahamutsa told the Pirates website.

Mahamutsa who recently returned to light training, suffered an elbow injury against SuperSport United last year November. The Standerton-born player has been unfortunate with long term injuries in recent years as he suffered another long term injury last season.

'Ngubo' has scored two goals in 20 appearances for Bucs this season, including his memorable goal against Esperance de Tunis in the Caf Champions League semi-final, second leg in Tunisia.
