The Magpies forward has revealed he could move away from the St. James Park outfit at the end of the summer
The Magpies striker’s contract runs out in the summer and the 32-year-old fears he may not be given a new deal.
"After the summer, my future is unclear," he told the Shields Gazette.
"Basically, I'll do what I've always done. Like I've always said, I've never taken it (playing for Newcastle) for granted. Every time I step on that pitch, I relish it.
"When it does finally end, it'll be a sad moment, but at the moment my focus is trying to help this club.
"That's what I've always tried to do, and that will never change,” he concluded.
Shola Ameobi has made 388 appearances for Newcastle since breaking into the first team back in 2000 and in that time he has scored 77 goals.
There have been reports of interest in him from Chinese club Guangzhou Evergrande.
