Nallappan Mohanraj has completed his move from the now disbanded Mumbai Tigers FC and will play the remainder of the season for Sporting Clube de Goa.

The 24-year-old had spent five years with Mohun Bagan and plied his trade with Pune FC in the 2012-13 season. Mohanraj was part of the India squad for the SAFF Championship last year but wasn't called upon when the Blue Tigers faced Philippines and Nepal in international friendlies.

Ever since he joined the ambitious Mumbai Tigers FC project, Mohanraj has lost out on playing time as the team decided to shut their shop and withdrew from participating in the I-League second division. This was after the club chose to back out at the 11th hour after having made a bid for a direct franchisee in the I-League.

Mohanraj will compete for a spot in the starting eleven against Joyner Lourenco and Rovan Pereira who have featured as left back for the club.

Confirming the signing, Sporting CEO Victor Fernandes told Goal, "He (Mohanraj) is coming on a transfer as the club (Mumbai Tigers FC) is disbanded. Right now he's there till the end of this season and we'll see after that."

Coming back | Mohanraj targets India team return

Expressing his satisfaction on his move to the Flaming Oranje, Mohanraj stated that he will try to make the best of the opportunity provided to help Sporting Clube de Goa win the I-League.

"I was not there in the I-League for the past six months. The [national team] coach (Wim Koevermans) also had made it clear that 'If you are not in the I-League then you cannot get a chance in the national team. If you're there in the I-League then anyone can come in'."

Mohanraj has meanwhile begun training with Sporting Clube de Goa after the team returned from Kerala as runners-up of the Federation Cup 2014.
