The Seasiders have urged the media to disregard rumours surrounding the player’s impending move to a club in South Africa
The Seasiders' media officer, Moses Etu said that the club had to break its silence over the issue based on the rumours circulated in the media and other quarters.
Etu said the club decided to fix Wednesday as the decision day for their star player so that they do not rock the boat in the present negotiation with a foreign club.
"A decision on the future of our captain, Azubuike Egwuekwe would be reached on Wednesday and the club would make it public that same day. We do not want to join issues with anybody at all on the various rumours about the player's next move," Etu disclosed.
He also confirmed that many clubs from Germany, Ukraine and Russia made enquiries about the lanky defender and that Wolves were presently studying these offers to know the best one for both player and club.
Egwuekwe was in the Nigeria squads to both Africa Cup of Nations and the African Nations Championship(CHAN) held in South Africa in 2013 and 2014 respectively. He also played at the Confederations Cup, coming on for Kenneth Omeruo in the last group game against Spain.
