The newly promoted club are shaping up for their debut campaign in the elite division with more than a dozen new signings

Giwa FC of Jos have moved swiftly to name a new captain and also announce the names of their newly signed players ahead of their debut campaign in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) this coming season.

In a press statement signed by the club's Public Relations Officer, Yemi Matthew, the head coach of the team, Abdullahi Biffo announced a preliminary list of 34 players headed by new captain, Charles Henlong and his vice, Ibrahim Akide.

The list is made up of old players and new ones which include tested players in the local league and some who had played the game abroad. Some of the new players are Lukman Orire (Kwara United), Chinenye Agoha (Dzongree FC, India), Okoro Charles (Dolphins), Shuaibu Ibrahim (Wikki Tourists), Edoh Ocheme (Ranchers Bees), Babangida Hasan (Prime), Atere Segun (Kwara United), George James (Teap FC), Owolabi Femi (AS Police, Benin Republic) and Fidelis Irhene (Niger Tornadoes).

The club also acquired some players from the defunct JUTH of Jos. They include Chris Madaki, Jimmy, Habu Olumbe, Femi Ambrose, Ali Mandula, Abubakar and Saleh Mohammed among others.

Matthew further hinted that the team would go into a closed camp from Sunday and will also travel on a two week training tour where they would prosecute some friendly matches against some teams in the premier league and the lower divisions.

The statement also added that the technical crew would drop few more players from the existing ones before registering them for the 2013/14 Glo Premier League season.

Meanwhile the head coach of the Jos side, Abdullahi Biffo has told Goal that the club would be having their pre season exercises in Ilorin and hare billed to play against Kwara United, ABS and Sunshine Stars after they have had at least a week closed door training sessions at their campsite.

Biffo who is in Abuja to monitor the goings-on in the Super Four pre-season competition said they may likely move to Ilorin on Tuesday. Giwa topped Group A of the NNL last season and booked the ticket to the premier league alongside Taraba United.
