The Belgian tactician watched from the stands at Amahoro Stadium on Sunday as the reigning champions Rayon beat Kiyovu 3-1 in a league match
Former AFC Leopards’ coach Luc Eymael arrived in Kigali on Saturday to seal a much anticipated deal with defending champions Rayon Sports.
The Belgian tactician was in the stands at Amahoro Stadium on Sunday as the reigning champions beat Kiyovu 3-1 in a league match.
Eymael revealed to Goal from Kigali that the transfer deal could be sealed before Tuesday. “I arrived safely in Kigali and I am waiting to hold talks with top officials of Rayon Sports. Everything looks okay and the unveiling could be done anytime this week.”
Eymael remained optimistic he will help the side retain the title. “I have watched them play against (Kiyovu) and they look a very organized side. Mine is to make sure that they perform well and retain the league title. We also have continental assignment which I want the team to do well.”
Rayon wants the Belgian to replace Frenchman Didier Gomes da Rosa, who resigned more than a fortnight ago and has since been appointed the coach of Cameroon’s Coton Sport de Garoua.
Eymael has vast experience in African football having spent stints with clubs like Vita Club of Congo, Missile FC in Gabon, MC Oran of Algeria and AFC Leopards’ of Kenya. The Blues face Congolese side AC Leopards in their Caf Champions League preliminary fixture early February.
