Mamelodi Sundowns have confirmed that midfielder Jabulani Shongwe will be joining Bidvest Wits having signed a pre-contract with the Students.

Shongwe’s contract with Sundowns is set to expire at the end of the season, and Sundowns PRO Kabelo Mosito told Goal that they are in negotiations with Wits for an early release.

“I have just confirmed with my colleagues, and Shongwe has indeed signed a pre-contract with Wits,” Mosito told Goal. “As we speak, the two teams are busy negotiating an early release for the player. Nothing finalized yet, just the negotiations for now,” he added.

Shongwe rose to prominence late last season, and he earned himself several Bafana caps in the process. The 23-year-old Shongwe was part of the Bafana team that finished third in the Cosafa Cup last year.

He was also included in the Bafana squad for the 2014 Chan tournament before he was forced to withdraw due to an injury a few days later.
