Manchester United midfielder Shinji Kagawa will fight Juan Mata for his place at Old Trafford, according to the Japan international's agent.

Kagawa has started just seven Premier League matches this season, after it was predicted by the club's former manager, Sir Alex Ferguson, that he would "be better" in his second campaign in England.

Some reports have linked the playmaker with an exit thanks to the impending arrival of Mata in a club record £37 million transfer, but the agent insists his client has no intention of leaving.

"He knows [about the transfer], he read in newspapers that [Mata] has signed, but for him at this moment there is no problem, he will fight for his position and move forward," he told Goal.

"Shinji will stay at Manchester United. Definitely he will stay at Manchester United. He will not leave the club in the transfer window."

Kroth did admit that there has been interest from other clubs, both during the current transfer window and last summer, but insists it will not come to anything.

"In the last window also some clubs have asked me but for him there is no interest in leaving Man United."

Mata was expected to fly into United's Carrington training base by helicopter on Thursday, but was delayed by Chelsea's negotiations with Basel for Mohamed Salah.

The Premier League champions are not concerned by the hold-up, though, and expect the transfer to be completed on Friday.
