Amidst talks surrounding Italian legend Alessandro Del Piero's move to Thailand's PTT Rayong FC, the club have officially revealed that they have made an offer for the 39-year-old to end his playing career in the Thai Premier League (TPL) and that he will not continuing his stay in Australia.
Rayong confirmed that Del Piero will not renew his contract with current club Sydney FC, and that his options would be to return to Juventus in a non-playing role or play for Rayong.
The newly-promoted TPL side revealed on their official Facebook fan page that they have sent a letter to Stefano Del Piero, Alessandro's brother and agent. It is understood that Del Piero's camp will need a few days to consider the offer.
Goal exclusively revealed earlier this week that the former Juventus star was deliberating a move to Thailand after Rayong coach Peter Withe confirmed of the offer.
Rayong, who are owned by the PTT Group, the wealthiest company in Thailand, are looking to make a sensational debut in the Thai top flight next season and are ready to arrange a special match in honour of Del Piero if he agrees to it.
"We want Del Piero to end his career here and will arrange an honour match for him if he says yes," a Rayong correspondent revealed to Goal.
However, despite the reported interest, Sydney CEO Tony Pignata has come out to dismiss speculation of such a transfer.
