The ex-international joins the sugar millers as goalkeeper trainer and re-unites with ‘Zico’, whom he worked with during the latter’s tenure at Gor Mahia
After leaving Nairobi City Stars where he had served as goalkeeper trainer for two seasons, former Harambee Stars ace Charles ‘Korea’Omondi has linked up with Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno at Sony Sugar.
The ex-international joins the sugar millers as goalkeeper trainer and re-unites with ‘Zico’, whom he worked with during the latter’s tenure at Gor Mahia.
“We had a very huge problem in the goalkeeping department last season because I did not have a goalkeeper trainer while at the same time we endured the season with only two goalkeepers. I am confident ‘Korea’s presence will improve my goalkeeping department because he is a good professional and I trust in his abilities,” ‘Zico’ told Goal.
Sony have also brought in three new keepers, who will help Joseck Gathongo, who was the only remaining after Wycliffe Kasaya left for AFC Leopards’. They have signed up Lucas Indeche, who was dropped by Thika United and Gaddy Kawuondi, who was as well dropped by Muhoroni Youth.
“Gaddy and Indeche are very good keepers and I know they will add value to the team,” added ‘Zico’.
He is also confident the team will perform well next season as opposed to how they faired in the 2013 season. “Our pre-season training is going on very well and I am very happy with how the players are fairing and this coming season will definitely be different.”
