Coach Abdallah Juma reveals to Goal that the player, who had been included in K’Ogalo’s Caf list of 26 players, moved back to the bankers on Thursday
Striker Mungai Kiongera has moved back to KCB and has even featured for them in a friendly match at the City Stadium.
According to coach Juma Abdallah, the player, who had already been drafted into Gor Mahia’s Caf list of 26 players, returned by himself to the club and they welcomed him since he still had a standing contract with them.
“He (Kiongera) is still our player and so we had no obligation to hold talks with anyone. He featured for us in a friendly and though he is a bit off for lack of playing time, I am sure he will get to his best soon,” coach Juma told Goal.
Kiongera had been loaned to Gor Mahia by the bankers at the start of last season and his loan spell ended on December 31 which immediately meant he went back to his contract at KCB.
However, Gor Mahia were keen on making his move permanent and had even kicked-off negotiations with the bankers, optimistically drafting his name in their Caf list.
“In principal, Kiongera had agreed to remain with us but we were yet to formalize with a contract. In view of us knowing that he will be our player we sent his name to Caf. KCB have a right because he is their player and has a running contract with them but we will still go on with negotiations and hope we can reach an amicable solution,” Ronald Ngala, Gor Mahia’s assistant secretary general told Goal.
