Goalkeeper Khairul Fahmi and defender Nik Shahrul have extended their contracts with the Red Warriors for another five years
Chief Executive officer of The Red Warriors Kevin Ramalingam has announced good news to Kelantan fans as national goalkeeper and Kelantan number one Khairul Fahmi Che Mat, and defender Nik Shahrul Azim, have both extended their contract with the FA Cup champions for another five years.
According to Utusan, Ramalingam admitted that the contracts that were being offered to both players were not as lucrative as ones that other teams might offer to their players, but both players still signed them to prove their loyalty towards the club.
The contracts signed by both players were the longest that any players in the Super League have ever signed, and it was approved by the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM).
Ramalingam expressed his happiness at the commitment shown by both players, and believes that the extensions are a huge success for the team. He also informed the media that other than Khairul Fahmi and Nik Shahrul, both Zairul Fitree and captain Badhri Radzi have signed new contracts with the 2012 treble winners as well.
Both Khairul Fahmi and Nik Shahrul were attracting interest from various clubs in the country and this news willl surely make Kelantan fans happy after they saw some of their key players such as Shakir Shaari, Norshahrul Idlan and Azwan Roya leave the team in the past few seasons.
Khairul Fahmi has been with Kelantan since 2009 and has made 177 appearences for the team, while Nik Shahrul has made 59 appearences for the Red Warriors.
