The Protectors, who finished second in the league and won the Singapore Cup last season, have undergone a revamp for the 2014 campaignUniformed giants Home United announced on Saturday their new signings for the 2014 season, with most other S.League clubs having already revealed to some extent their squad for upcoming campaign.
The Protectors will feature at least seven new faces, chief amongst them skilful winger Bruno Castanheira. The Japanese-Brazilian player terrorised full-backs for Albirex Niigata last season and will be a more than adequate replacement for the outgoing Jordan Webb.
Winger Yasir Hanapi, who did well for Geylang International, returns for a second spell at the club as well. He will be joined by flanker Fazli Ayob, central midfielder Izzdin Shafiq and Fazrul Nawaz, all from LionsXII and former Tampines Rovers forward Ahmed Fahmie. Balestier Khalsa reserve goalkeeper Daniel Ong has joined as well.
These recruits will make up for the outgoing Nor Azli Yusoff, Masrezwan Masturi, Firdaus Idros (all Tanjong Pagar United), Sofiyan Abdul Hamid (Balestier), Aliff Shafaein (Geylang), Choi Jae Won and Webb.
Star playmaker and Goal Singapore Football Awards Foreign Player of the Year Lee Kwan Woo is believed to be staying at Bishan Stadium as well.
There could be more signings announced in due course by the reigning Singapore Cup champions, who also finished second in the league under coach Lee Lim Saeng last season.
