Ajax tie down three young players after losing to Platinum Stars

The Cape Town club confirmed the signatures of Riyaad Norodien, Ayabulela Magqwaka and Rivaldo Coetzee for the long term
Hailing from the Ajax Cape Town Youth Academy, the youngsters won the Engen Knockout Challenge title three times, the Metropolitan Premier Cup title thrice and the 2013 Copa Amsterdam.

Magqwaka and Coetzee represented South Africa at the recent Cosafa U20 Challenge winning gold medals.

"Ayabulela joined the Ajax Academy as an 11 year old and he has progressed impressively. He captained the South Africa U20 team at the recent COSAFA U20 Challenge in Lesotho," states the Ajax official website.

"Rivaldo, from Kakamas joined Ajax Cape Town after he was spotted during a youth tournament. He went on to captain the Urban Warriors to the Engen Knockout and Metropolitan Premier Cup titles, winning the Defender of the Tournament award in both competitions," the site gives us the background on the South African Rivaldo.

"Norodien is an exciting young talent who joined Ajax Cape Town at the age of 10 and has progressed through the ranks over the years. The diminutive Ajax forward enjoys playing down the flanks and likes to get amongst the goals."

Ajax coach Muhsin Ertugral has had to balance his talented youth with senior players at the club. After some good results, he'd be disappointed with their 2-0 defeat against Platinum Stars at home on Saturday.
Solomon Mathe and Robert Ng'amb were the scorers at the Cape Town Stadium. Stars move into fifth place with 22 points while Ajax remain in eighth position on 19 points.

Looking ahead, Ertugral focused on the postives of the new signings on Sunday.

"As you know Ajax Cape Town have a great Youth Development program and the club is committed to developing their youth players," said the Ajax coach.

"Every year we promote youngsters to the PSL team. At the start of this season we signed five youngsters from our Youth Academy to the PSL side.

"The trio have been training with the PSL team for the last six months and they have impressed.”
