Indonesia’s Syakir Sulaiman set for trials with Ventforet Kofu

The 21-year-old Indonesian Persiba Balikpapan starlet has flown to Japan to undergo a four-day trial with the J-league club
The 21-year-old attacking midfielder had been selected for the trial following his remarkable season in the Indonesia Super League.

Syakir scored nine goals in 25 games last season, claiming the Indonesia Super League 2012/2013 Best Youngster Award.

"Later on, there will also be 3-5 players from Thailand and Vietnam in the try-out," said Daisuke Nakanishi, who is on the J-League Board of Directors.

Besides Syakir, Irfan Bachdim, who plays for Thailand club Chonburi, as well as Persipura Jayapura’s Ruben Karel Sanadi will also be undergoing trials for the Japanese club.

Previously, Indonesia Under-23 midfielder Andik Vermansyah had also caught the attention of Ventforet while on trial there last October. Unfortunately, the two sides could not find a consensus to proceed with the contract, and Andik is now with Malaysia Super League club Selangor FA.
