S.League side Balestier Khalsa announced on their official website on Monday a list of 13 players who will be staying at the club next season.
Key men like Korean playmaker Park Kang Jin and captain Paul Cunningham are the most notable names, with Brazilian striker Vitor Borges and Korean forward Kim Minho also retained, thus filling up four of their foreigner slots.
A surprise omission was China-born Singapore international Qiu Li, who was the Tigers' top scorer last season. He was not on the list, along with Hamqamaal Shah, Tengku Mushadad and Obadin Aikhena, who all featured regularly for the first team in 2013.
Qiu Li's form also earned him a recall to the national team and he is in the running for Goal Singapore Football Awards Player of the Year.
Goalkeepers Zaiful Nizam and Zakariah Nerani were also amongst those handed contract renewals, together with defenders Yusiskandar Yusop, Syed Thaha and Jaslee Hatta, midfielders Poh Yi Feng, Ridwan Jamil, Zulkiffli Hassim and Ruhaizad Ismail.
There is also no news on a new head coach replacement for Australian Darren Stewart, who surprisingly parted ways with the club earlier this month.
Stewart led the Toa Payoh-based side to their highest-ever league finish of fourth in the recently concluded season, while also bringing them their first major piece of silverware in the form of the StarHub League Cup. The club also reached the semi-finals of the Singapore Cup, eventually finishing third.
It is rumoured that Stewart will take over Woodlands Wellington next, with current coach Salim Moin supposedly due to head to Tampines Rovers.
