The Essel Group backed club have decided to strengthen their squad after a not so good start in the domestic campaign…
Following in the footsteps of Mohammedan Sporting and Rangdajied United, Mumbai FC are the latest to break away from the I-League Professional Football Clubs Association (IPFCA).
The Mumbai-based outfit has taken four players, namely Mohammed Rafi, N.P.Pradeep, Peter Costa and Khelemba Meetei, on-loan till the end of the season from IMG-Reliance.
From their nine matches played, they have amassed a mere seven points and are placed eleventh on the table.
Last week when Goal contacted Mumbai FC’s vice-president Atul Bagdamia, the official expressed their interest in roping in players from IMG-Reliance.
“Nothing is finalised as of now. We are in discussions though,” he said.
Pradeep and Meetei have already had their first training sessions with the club on Saturday while Rafi and Costa are expected to join by Monday.
“Costa was with us for the last two years and in the last two games, he played very well for us. Khelemba is a top player and we needed reinforcements at the back since our defense is thin.
“Pradeep and Rafi are experienced and gave a good account of themselves with Mumbai Tigers. We are also in talks with a few others though nothing is finalised as of now.”
The club are also in talks to rope in a few more players from IMG-Reliance, namely Abhishek Yadav and Sanju Pradhan.
