Former AFC Leopards' tactician Jan Koops is in talks with outgoing Kenyan Premier League champions Tusker for a possible transfer move, Goal can exclusively reveal.
The Dutchman is being lined-up to take over from besieged Robert Matano and is believed to be headed to Ruaraka with former international Nicholas Muyoti as his assistant.
Reliable sources from Ruaraka where Tusker are based, revealed that Koops may be unveiled next week after the brewers play their last match against Western Stima this weekend at Bukhungu Stadium.
“There has been contact with Koops and an agreement reached. He could be unveiled on Tuesday after the match against Western Stima,” said our source.
Contacted Tusker chairman James Musyoki declined to confirm this development only insisting that Matano still has a contract with the club. “We have a coach until the end of the season. We cannot begin talking about hiring someone now."
Jan Koops who is currently handling Nairobi City Stars, also declined to confirm the reports insisting he still has a job at City Stars. Nicholas Muyoti, who was recently sacked as an assistant coach at AFC Leopards', also declined to comment.
