Moroka Swallows striker Manqele wants out of Sundowns

Manqele made 19 appearances for Sundowns last season, scoring two goals in the process and he feels it’s time he gets himself a new club

Moroka Swallows striker Edward Manqele has spoken of his desire to leave Mamelodi Sundowns before the expiry of his contract.

Manqele is currently on a season-long loan with Swallows and wants to extend his stay with the Dube Birds after admitting that he regrets the day he joined Sundowns.

“Honestly, I regret going there [to Sundowns],” Manqele told reporters. “As a player you need to grow, but I have experienced what it is like and I wish to stay at Swallows,” he said.

The 26-year-old former Free State Stars top goalscorer revealed that he will speak to his bosses at Sundowns to try and negotiate another loan move to Swallows next season.

“Looking at the kind of squad they [Sundowns] have, they’ve got many players and they can get whoever they want, but for me I just want to play football. I hope to talk to them so that they can give me maybe another season here at Swallows,” added Manqele.

Manqele still has three more years to run to his current contract with Sundowns and it remains to be seen if the Brazilians will loan him out for another season.
