Kaizer Chiefs
communications manager Vina Maphosa has told Goal that the club is not interested in signing former Bafana captain Aaron Mokoena.

Media reports have been linking Mokoena to Chiefs, as the PSL champions continue to search for a central defender.

“There is no truth in that. We are not looking to sign Aaron Mokoena,” Maphosa told Goal.

However, Maphosa confirmed that the club is still waiting for Ugandan defender Ivan Bukenya who is thought to be coming for trials at Naturena.

“The only player that we are still waiting for is the Ugandan defender Ivan Bukenya and no one else,” he said.

The 32-year-old Mokoena returned to the PSL to join Bidvest Wits from Portsmouth in 2012, but he failed to live up to expectations.

The former Bayer Leverkusen and Ajax Amsterdam player worked with Chiefs coach Baxter at the national team between 2004 and 2005.
