Leverkusen have loaned Ghana target Karim Bellarabi to newly-promoted Eintracht Braunschweig to acquire more playing time after recovering from a serious knee injury.

The former German Under-21 star who was once a kingpin at the Bundesliga side has dipped in form after the injury which kept him out of action for the greater part of last season.

Bellarabi was developed by Braunschweig and played 38 games for their senior team between 2008 and 2011 scoring eight goals before being bought by Leverkusen.

“Karim Bellarabi is an extremely talented player, who's already shown us exactly what he's capable of,” explained Bayer sporting director Rudi Völler.

"After all the injuries, he now needs to play, which at the moment he'll have a better chance of doing at Braunschweig. We're in no doubt that we'll get plenty more out of Karim when he returns.”

The striker who is yet to receive a German senior national team call-up is also on the radar of his father's homeland Ghana as well as his mother's side Morocco.
