The Swedish side have loaned the Ghanaian-born young central defender to the Norwegian club

Swedish Alsvagen giants Helsingborgs IF have loan young centre-back of Ghanaian descent Joseph Baffo to Norwegian club Valeranga in a one year deal.

The Swedish national Under-21 star has failed to command a regular starting place in Helsingborg which necessitated a move elsewhere with Valeranga having shown so much interest in him.

"He expressed a desire to go on loan to get more playing time and Valeranga are ready to offer him that," Jesper Jansson, sports director of Helsingborg told the club’s website.

“Baffo is a very good central defender. He is at that age where we feel he needs to play more. He has spent actually three years here and has been good all the time.”

Jansen added: “Scandinavia's biggest competition is in the central defender position. And he himself expressed a desire to go on loan.”

Norwegian sides Honefoss and Allsvenskan side Mjallby were also interested in signing him on loan but the player opted for Valeranga.

The towering centre back who was born in Accra has previously played for Varnamo IF and he is still eligible to represent Ghana at senior level.
