Candreva is not for sale, insist Lazio

The midfielder has reportedly caught the attention of Napoli in recent weeks but his current club are determined to retain his services

Lazio president Claudio Lotito has insisted that the Serie A outfit have no intention to cash in on Antonio Candreva this summer amid ongoing reports that the Italy international could be on the move.

Candreva put in a string of impressive performances in 2012-13 to help Lazio achieve a seventh-place finish in the league table, while they also won the Coppa Italia final against arch-rivals Roma.

Napoli were thought to be leading the chase for the attacking midfielder, who also impressed for Italy at the Confederations Cup earlier this summer, but Lotito has stressed that the 26-year-old will be staying at Lazio.

"Candreva's not for sale," Lotito said at a press conference.

"Napoli? They have never called me, but if they do, I'd tell them he's not for sale.

"Lazio are the only club that have bought players without selling. We wanted to strengthen the team again. I can also say that we have achieved all the market targets we had."

Candreva is under contract with Lazio until June 2017.
