The India international has opted to join I-League's newcomers in the hope of reviving his club career...
Robin Singh has joined Jindal Steel Works (JSW) after enduring three frustrating years at East Bengal where he managed to score a mere 10 goals in 40 appearances in the I-League. He shall be with the Bangalore-based club until 2015.
“There was more than one reason to sign for this club. It’s going to be a young squad and the way they are going about setting up the club is very professional. That apart, I have been to Bangalore to attend camps and I enjoy the vibe of the city. I’m really excited to be part of this team,” said Robin.
The 23-year old was also being chased by IMG-Reliance for their proposed IPL-style league but instead chose to continue his career in India’s top division league.
“Robin possesses tremendous potential and we are happy to have signed him. We are certain he will do well at the club and strike a chord with the fans in Bangalore,” said Mustafa Ghouse, CEO of JSW’s sports arm.
Robin would hope that a move to JSW will help in get enough game time in order to improve and thereby win a starting berth in the national side.
