The young Ghanaian midfielder, who currently plays for Thai Premier League side BEC Tero Sansana, will be heading to Europe for an opportunity with Tippeligaen team Sogndal FotballBEC Tero Sansana midfielder Gilbert Koomson is set to undergo trials in Europe at Norway Tippeligaen side Sogndal Fotball, which could pave the way for him to move to the continent.
The 18-year-old Ghanaian is viewed as one of Southeast Asia's top young prospects and scored six goals in 12 appearances while on loan at Samutsongkram FC for the first leg of the Thai Premier League (TPL) this season, where he was a key player.
BEC Tero recalled Koomson for the second leg of the TPL, but decided not to register him as there is the possibility that he could sign for Sogndal.
Koomson began his career at hometown club Ajax Accra and did well enough to be called for a trial by English Premier League side Stoke City, but the move did not materialise due to visa problems.
He instead moved to Thailand on the recommendation of then-BEC Tero technical director Peter Butler, who had coached Komsoon when he was a guest coach at the Manchester City academy in Accra.
Koomson has appeared for Ghana at Under-16 level, and is currently a member of their U17 team.
