The Spain Under-21s star has been offered a lucrative contract by Manchester United but the Uruguayan believes that the 22-year-old would be ill-advised to leave Camp NouFormer Brighton manager Gus Poyet believes that Barcelona midfielder Thiago is capable of making history at the club and is shocked that he might leave for Manchester United.

Poyet, though, is surprised by suggestions that Thiago may leave, stressing just how important the playmaker could be in years to come for Barca.
"When I heard about a possible move away, I couldn't believe it - I never thought it would actually happen," the Uruguayan told Catalan TV programme Esports en Xarxa.
"I see Thiago as the replacement for Xavi, Iniesta and Cesc Fabregas. He is someone who could make history at the club."
The midfielder's brother, Rafinha, extended his contract at Camp Nou in late June.
