The Ivory Coast striker has previously shared his desire to play for Michael Laudrup's side, but the Capital One Cup holders have yet to reach an agreement with the 24-year-old

Swansea remain hopeful of securing a deal to sign Vitesse striker Wilfried Bony, though Swans director John van Zweden admits they have yet to reach an agreement with either the player or the club.

The Ivory Coast international - who bagged 37 goals in 36 appearances for the Eredivisie outfit last season - has previously expressed his desire to join the reigning Capital One Cup holders.

But Van Zweden has revealed that the club are a long way from concluding a deal and says negotiations over personal terms with the 24-year-old are still "far apart".

"We will reach an agreement with Vitesse but we have yet to agree terms with Bony and we're still pretty far apart," Van Zweden told Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf.

Bony, who topped the Eredivisie goal-charts last season with 31 goals, revealed his interest in joining Swansea on Thursday, and would favour a move to the Premier League.

"The clubs are now talking to each other, Swansea has made Vitesse a bid and I hope it's good," Bony told Voetbal International.

"Swansea is a wonderful club. It's my chance to play in the Premier League and they also play attractive football.

"I understood from my agent that Swansea want to pay €12 million [£10.2m] for me and that is what Vitesse want to receive, so I hope there is some good news soon."
