Manchester City target Cavani unimpressed by De Laurentiis 'smack him' jibe

The Uruguay international striker appeared annoyed by a quip made about him by the club's president regarding the transfer speculation and confusion regarding his future
Napoli striker Edinson Cavani appeared annoyed by a jibe made about him by club president Aurelio De Laurentiis.

The forward, courted by Manchester City, Chelsea and Real Madrid, is currently featuring for Uruguay in the Confederations Cup and his future is set to be resolved until after the competition has finished, with the 26-year-old indicating that it would be hard to turn down any of the interested teams.

De Laurentiis told reporters on Sunday that he believed Cavani would stay at Napoli, joking that, if his star man did not, he would "smack him".

But, speaking to the press after Sunday night's demolition of minnows Tahiti in the Confederations Cup, the striker responded angrily to De Laurentiis' joke: "[The] quotes by the president were heavy and very strong. I'm very sorry. Now I want to talk to him face to face."

Cavani has scored over 100 goals for Napoli since his move from Palermo in 2010.
