The Protectors' head coach Lee Lim Saeng confirmed to a Korean website that the club have signed the 34-year-old ex-Suwon Samsung Bluewings midfielder.
Following the much-hyped signing of former Japan international Kazuyuki Toda by Singapore Armed Forces FC (SAFFC), their uniformed group rivals Home United FC look to have secured the services of a former Asian international player themselves. The Bishan-based club have brought in former Suwon Samsung Bluewings midfielder Lee Kwan-Woo, who has scored once in 13 international appearances for South Korea.
Home coach Lee Lim Saeng, who is currently leading the Protectors on a pre-season training tour in Jeju Island, confirmed to a website there that the 34-year-old has signed for the club.
“I knew [Lee] Kwan-Woo wanted to play a little more as a player, [and] as a Korean coach, I felt something like sense of duty,” Lee told Sports Dong-A.
The player featured in Home’s pre-season friendly against SAFFC here two weeks ago, alongside new foreign additions Jordan Webb (ex-Hougang United) and Sirina Camara (ex-Courts Young Lions).
“In Singapore, we can [now] hire one more foreign player than last year: from four, to five,” Lee added.
“It's [an] official player contract [for Kwan-Woo], not a player-coach [role].”
