Wigan accept Chelsea offer for Moses

The Blues break the Latics' resolve at the fifth attempt as they meet the valuation Dave Whelan had in mind for his winger, believed to be in the region of £10 million
Wigan Athletic have accepted a bid for Victor Moses from Chelsea after the Blues finally met the Lancashire club's valuation of the player.

The versatile forward was on the receiving end of four unsuccessful bids by the European champions but Wigan chairman Dave Whelan has finally caved in.

Wigan confirmed they had given Chelsea permission to speak to Moses and the move looks set to go through this week.

The 21-year-old played the full 90 minutes against his potential new club last weekend but failed to get on the score sheet as Roberto Di Matteo's men ran out 2-0 victors.

Moses' versatility - he can either play out wide or as a central striker - is believed to have attracted Chelsea as they look to push reigning champions Manchester City all the way in the Premier League.

The former Crystal Palace man has played for England at under-16, under-17, under-19 and under-21 level but has since pledged his allegiance to the country of his birth, Nigeria, and is now in their senior plans.
