Bayern Munich midfielder Luiz Gustavo has highlighted the importance of his side's 2-1 triumph against Real Madrid in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final tie.
Goals from Mario Gomez and Franck Ribery either side of a Mesut Ozil strike have given the Bavarians a slim advantage heading into the return leg at the Santiago Bernabeu next week.
Gustavo lamented that his side conceded a goal and stressed that Bayern were worthy of the victory against Los Blancos.
"I am very pleased with the team's performance," he told Goal.com. "We were determined to win and everybody worked very hard for it."
"Real Madrid were lucky with their goal. Our late winner gives us the edge, though.
"But it will not mean a lot as Madrid will be desperate to beat us. We have to be extremely focused in Madrid. It will be a very difficult game.
"Winning was very important. However, we really wanted to keep a clean sheet as well."
The return fixture is scheduled for April 25 in the Spanish capital.
