Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp set for personal scouting mission to watch Marseille star Loic Remy against Lille
Premier League targets Mathieu Valbuena & Eden Hazard will also play but Spurs boss will focus on the France striker at Stade Velodrome as the Londoners prepare a £15m bid

Harry Redknapp will travel to France on Sunday to run a personal scouting mission on Marseille star Loic Remy as Tottenham prepare a £15 million (€18m) bid for the striker, Goal.com can reveal.
Spurs manager Redknapp will watch Remy against Lille at Stade Velodrome before giving chairman Daniel Levy the green light to open negotiations over a move for the France international.
Redknapp has previously revealed his interest in signing Remy but Tottenham are yet to make a bid for the 25-year-old, who has been identified as replacement for Roman Pavlyuchenko.
Remy’s agent, Frederic Guerra, told Goal.com on Friday that his client would find it hard to turn down a move to White Hart Lane but suggested the former Nice man is unlikely to leave Marseille this month.
Marseille are reluctant to sell Remy as they are still in the Champions League and battling to secure a place in Europe’s premier competition for next season. They have reportedly set an asking price of £22m (€26.5m) for their star man, which is more than Spurs’ valuation.
The Londoners are, however, prepared to bid £15m in an attempt to boost their Premier League title challenge and cement their place in the top four. Remy has been compared to Thierry Henry and is considered the right type of player to complement strikers Emmanuel Adebayor and Jermain Defoe.
Pavlyuchenko could be offered to Marseille in a swap deal but the wantaway Russian appears more likely to return to his homeland this month in his search for regular football.
Redknapp will also cast his eye over Remy’s team-mate Mathieu Valbuena on Sunday night, while £25m-rated (€30m) Lille winger Eden Hazard is one of the hottest properties in European football.
But Remy will be the main focus for the Spurs manager, who missed out on the Lyon Academy product in 2010 when he joined Marseille from Nice in a £12.5m (€15m) deal.
One reason behind Tottenham’s pursuit of Remy is the growing feeling that they will fail to secure a permanent deal to sign Adebayor from Manchester City at the end of the season.
Adebayor is on a season-long loan from the Etihad Stadium but will refuse to take a pay cut on his £170,000-a-week salary - well in excess of Spurs’ wage ceiling - to move clubs next summer.
City are paying half of the Adebayor’s wages while he is at White Hart Lane, which has become a source of some embarrassment now Spurs have emerged as title rivals this season.
