Poll of the Day: Who should England play in Gerrard's absence?

Adam Lallana, Tom Cleverley, Jordan Henderson and Ross Barkley all stand a chance of replacing the Three Lions captain this Friday but who do you think deserves the nod?

England face Chile at Wembley this Friday in the first of two friendlies but have suffered a number of withdrawals in the last two days. Danny Welbeck and Michael Carrick will miss both games, while Kyle Walker and captain Steven Gerrard will be absent for the match against Jorge Sampaoli's side.

With Gerrard sidelined, it opens up a space in midfield for a number of midfielders looking to stake a claim for Roy Hodgson's World Cup squad.

Adam Lallana has been in fine form for Southampton, while Ross Barkley has emerged as a Premier League and international prospect at Everton. Tom Cleverley has been a mainstay of Hodgson's squads despite his questionable Manchester United form but at the other end of the spectrum Jordan Henderson has earned a recall thanks to his and Liverpool's surge to second place in the Premier League.

So with Gerrard missing the Chile friendly who do you think should be given a chance to shine in the Three Lions' midfield?
