Paris Saint-Germain fans have released a statement begging coach Carlo Ancelotti to remain in charge at the club beyond the current campaign.
The 53-year-old Italian has been strongly linked with replacing Jose Mourinho at Real Madrid, should the Portuguese coach leave los Blancos, and PSG fans have shown their appreciation for Ancelotti in the following statement, written on a community website:
"This season, thanks to the support given to you by Qatar Sports Investments (QSI), you've managed to build a very competitive team in Europe. You even managed to scare the great FC Barcelona.
"Mr. Ancelotti, we cannot forget that you were on the bench in Paris in the year of the championship, which we've been waiting for for 19 years. You have honoured our colours by implementing tactics that have given major European teams difficulty.
"PSG have the best defence in the league and have won many matches without conceding a goal. We recognise that it was your priority to create a tough defensive unit, capable of withstanding the best attacks in Europe.
"While many may have criticised you in the beginning, they will now regret your departure. It is true that the leadership have not always made the right choices, including putting ultimatums on you, but you faced the obstacles.
"We are confident that next year may be a historic one for PSG but for that we will rely on the work you have done for one-and-a-half years. No one knows as well as you the basics that you have implemented.
"For all these reasons, we hope that you will continue the adventure at PSG next season."
Ancelotti took charge of les Parisiens in December 2011, and could clinch the Ligue 1 title this weekend if results go in their favour. They lead Olympique de Marseille by nine points with just four games remaining.
