thumbnail Hello,

The Middlesbrough goalkeeper believes fans will be in for a treat at the Amex Stadium when the two sides face off in their final match ahead of the European Championships

Middlesbrough goalkeeper Jason Steele hopes England Under-21s can put on a show for fans attending Monday's clash with Austria.

The Young Lions go into the game having won their last eight outings without conceding, and will hope to extend that run in their final fixture ahead of this summer’s European Championship in Israel.

And Steele, who came on for Birmingham City goalkeeper Jack Butland to earn his fifth cap in Thursday’s win over Romania, believes that the Amex Stadium crowd will be excited no matter who starts.

He told the FA's official website: “No matter what team plays, fans can expect to see a lot of flair in this Under-21s side.

“We have some very quick and attacking players that excite fans.

“We have some good young talent coming through so no matter what players the manager [Stuart Pearce] picks they generally do get the fans off their seats.

“We have been scoring a lot of goals and we want to carry that on going into Israel as that is going to be very important for us.

“To keep eight clean sheets on the bounce, no matter what level you are at, is an absolutely brilliant record. Every single person in the squad should be very proud of the run we are on at the minute.

“We are doing a lot of things right and teams are struggling to deal with the force that we are showing. As long as we can keep that going then Israel could be brilliant for us.

“People can sense that we are maybe on the verge of something special and that we could do well this summer.

“We have a great spirit and a really good set of lads, who are all in it together and that's all a manager can wish for, to have squad that is fully behind the lads who are playing.”
