Word on the Tweet: Fabregas delighted by Barcelona contract frenzy as Owen continues his blogging

Also, Elliot Bennett celebrates his birthday, Robbie Savage prepares for a Match of the Day debut, and Andreas Weimann has a ‘flameyyy’ Christmas dinner with Aston Villa
Despite a busy festive fixture schedule approaching, our favourite football stars have yet to let up on their vociferous tweeting.

A round of contract renewals at Barcelona are the talk of Europe and, speaking of tiny Spaniards, Santi Cazorla's hat trick has also garnered deserved praise.

There's a new potential career for Michael Owen in the offing, too - all in Tuesday's Word on the Tweet...

“I have just posted a new blog (http://www.michaelowen.com/blog.html ) about last week's actions and reactions. As always I look forward to your views.”
Not content simply to sit on the bench at Stoke, former England striker Michael Owen is taking a plunge into the world of writing. Don't do it Mike, the money's nowhere near as good.

“#Messi signs a new deal to 2018... Say bye to every record ever set!”
Wayne Routledge, of Swansea aka Barcelona-lite, reacts to the news that Lionel Messi has signed a new deal with the Catalan club.

“Great news for the FC Barcelona! Very happy for the renewals of @ctello91, @Carles5puyol, Leo and Xavi!”
Cesc Fabregas, the Leon Britton of the Barca equation if we're sticking with the Swansea analogy, is also delighted by the news.

“Just watching arsenal goals againts reading. 3 goals from cazorla. Amazing player.”
Despite his Liverpool side having a hard time of it of late, Jose Enrique remains keen to praise compatriot Santi Cazorla for his hat trick against Reading.

“Thanks to everyone that has sent me birthday wishes. Much appreciated! #gettingonnow”
Elliott Bennett thanks fans for his birthday messages and expresses his belief that reaching the age of 24 is "getting on".

“Just had xmas dinner at the training ground #flameyyy ..now off to acorns hospital for xmas visits!”
It seems the players at Aston Villa are celebrating Christmas early as Andreas Weimann hails his "flameyyy" dinner. No idea, quite frankly.

“Xmas lunch at the training ground today fantastic spread by the chef-entertained in the young lads aswell with a few songs!”
Phil Neville is another enjoying his work Christmas dinner and even a few festive songs.

“Huge week motd1 debut on Saturday any tips @GaryLineker”
Robbie Savage asks Gary Lineker for advice ahead of his Match of the Day debut. Just avoid an Owen-style moustache, Robbie.

“Time to get ready to go back to Birmingham don't want to leave Glasgow wish I had longer here!!”
Poor Graham Dorrans isn’t looking forward to leaving Glasgow and his family.
