Former Coventry City, Birmingham City, Sheffield United and Huddersfield Town winger Peter Ndlovu is reportedly conscious and communicating following a car crash in his home country of Zimbabwe.

The accident, which took place in Victoria Falls, claimed the life of his elder brother and former Zimbabwe international footballer Adam Ndlovu.

And Ndlovu's close friend and former manager Winston Makamure confirmed the 39-year-old’s condition.

"Peter is now out of danger. He is now conscious and is communicating," Makamure told BBC Sport.

"He has internal injuries, head injuries, broken ribs and a broken leg."

Ndlovu is assistant coach of the Zimbabwe international side, for whom he has 100 appearances as well as 33 goals. He is also the head coach of the Under-23 Zimbabwe side.
