Nordsjaelland - Chelsea Betting Preview: Backing the Blues to bring home an immaculate victory

Having dropped two precious points in their opening home game, the champions will have to compensate on the road. Al Hain-Cole expects them to ease to victory against the Danes
After letting a two-goal lead slip to draw their opening home game against Juventus, Chelsea will need to pick up points away from home to ensure qualification from a potentially tricky Champions League group.

Even at this early stage, anything less than a win in tonight's visit to Danish minnows Nordsjaelland would put Roberto Di Matteo's men under serious pressure as they seek to defend their title, with daunting trips to Turin and Donetsk still to come.

Realistically though, The Blues' convincing start to the season suggests that they should have no trouble in justifying their billing as heavy favourites here, with Bet365 offering odds of 9/25 (1.36) on an away win.

The hosts' modest home stadium has been deemed unfit for elite European competition, meaning the Danish champions will be playing their home games at FC Copenhagen's Parken stadium, where Chelsea won 2-0 two seasons ago.

Denied of true home advantage, it is not hard to see why The Wild Tigers are long shots at 15/2 (8.50) to come out on top here.

The victory over Bayern Munich in last season's final included, Chelsea have drawn their last three games in this competition after 90 minutes, and you can get odds of 15/4 (4.75) on them playing out another stalemate in this one.

Unlike Champions League veterans Chelsea, Kasper Hjulmand's men are playing their first season in the competition this year, and their meagre European record does not bode well for them hitting the ground running at this level.

In four attempts, Nordsjælland have only twice successfully navigated the preliminary rounds of the Europa League, and once qualified have lost their only home tie on both occasions without scoring a goal.

Considering Chelsea have kept four clean sheets in six league games this season, the home crowd should probably brace themselves for another unfruitful European night this evening.

At odds of 11/10 (2.10), there is great value in backing The Blues to win without conceding a goal, as they did on their last trip to Denmark.

The highlight of Chelsea's opener against Juventus was Oscar's wonderstrike - his second of two goals on the night.

His performance that night put him firmly into Di Matteo's plans, as the Brazilian has started both his side's league games since then.

At generous 15/2 (8.50) odds, it is well worth having a value bet on the attacker opening the scoring again in this match.
