Papin: Paris Saint-Germain could finish Ligue 1 unbeaten

The former France international would not be surprised if les Parisiens maintain their unbeaten status all season, as he sees them as the team to beat this term
Jean-Pierre Papin believes that Paris Saint-Germain are the clear favourites to win the Ligue 1 title, and stated his belief that they have what it takes to finish the season unbeaten.

The former Marseille star feels PSG have overcome their difficulties from the opening weeks of the 2012-13 campaign, and believes it will be hard to stop Carlo Ancelotti's men.

"PSG are the big favourites for the Ligue 1 title. They’ve had trouble getting going but they seem to be ironing out their difficulties. I think they are becoming more balanced match after match," Papin was quoted as saying on the official Ligue 1 website.

"They’re a team that is capable of not losing a single game in the season. I’m not saying they’ll win everything, but I think PSG are capable of not losing a game."

The former France international then stated that he sees Marseille as PSG's biggest rivals for domestic glory.

"Of course OM can compete with PSG for the title. When you’re top of the league or close to the leaders you can always be in the title race," he added.

"But when you look at the PSG squad, and the OM squad, taking into account the fact there will be an African Cup of Nations in January and Marseille will lose four, five or six players while PSG won’t lose anyone. I think it’ll be complicated."

Marseille currently top the table with 15 point from five games, while Paris Saint-Germain are sat in fourth spot on nine points.
