The Spaniard played under the new Blaugrana coach earlier in his career and believes he is the perfect choice to take over from Pep Guardiola at Camp NouSwansea City defender Angel Rangel believes new Barcelona boss Tito Vilanova was the perfect choice to succeed Pep Guardiola in the Camp Nou hotseat.
The 42-year-old former assistant took over the reins in May after Guardiola decided to end his four-year spell in charge.
And Rangel, who played under Vilanova for lower league side Terrassa before joining the Swans in 2007, expects the new coach to settle in quickly to the new role.
"Everyone will see he is the right person to go into Barca,” Rangel told Wales Online.
“If they had brought someone like Jose Mourinho in there then he would have had to rip it up and start from scratch.
“The Barca players know him already. He knows the style of football they play and I don’t think he will try and change it. He is the ideal person to take over from Guardiola.
“Barcelona are the best team in the world so he won’t need to change much.He will probably make a few small changes to put his own style into it, but Barcelona will carry on being successful as the best passing side around.”
