The Tehran giants moved above Al Rayyan in Group A with Wednesday's 3-0 victory but their coach knows they still have work to do to seal their progress

Esteghlal boss Parviz Mazloumi acknowledges his side are far from through to the Round of 16 despite Wednesday's 3-0 win over Al Rayyan putting them in the driver's seat to progress in Group A.

The Tehran giants, who are on eight points, go to bottom-placed Nasaf Qarshi (one point) on the final matchday, while third-placed Al Rayyan (six points) host runaway group winners Al Jazira.

"Our job isn't finished yet. We have another game left in which we want all three points," Mazloumi said after the win over Al Rayyan.

He added: "Al Rayyan are a very good team and we're pretty satisfied and content to score three times against such a good side. After they put us under pressure, we netted twice which lifted the pressure off us."

Meanwhile, Al Rayyan boss Diego Aguirre lamented the decision by Chinese referee Hai Tan to award Esteghlal a 23rd-minute penalty for Afonso Alves' handball, which earned the hosts the lead courtesy of Arash Borhani's spotkick.

“I don't believe it was a right decision by the referee,” Aguirre told reporters.

“The game was very balanced for both sides before the penalty, but after Esteghlal opened the scoring, they took control of the rest of the game."
