Palmeiras' Wesley ruled out for at least six months

The 24-year-old midfielder might not play again this year after suffering ligament damage in only his fourth appearance for a club he joined from Werder Bremen last month
Palmeiras have announced that recent arrival Wesley has been ruled out of action for between six and eight months with a knee injury.

The midfielder, who only joined the Brazil outfit last month from Werder Bremen, was forced off just 10 minutes into his side's clash with Guarani at the weekend.

It was hoped that the injury would not be as bad as first feared but an MRI scan on Monday confirmed ligament damage, and the player might not play again this year.

Wesley had been training with Palmeiras since January but his protracted €6 million switch from Bremen was only finalised on March 26, and he has only made a total of four appearances for his new employers.
