Home United climbed to fourth spot on the Great Eastern-YEO’S S.League table with a convincing 2-0  win over the Courts Young Lions at Jalan Besar Stadium on Thursday evening.

The visitors showed their intentions to walk away with three points, opening the scoring as early as three minutes before adding a second in the last quarter of the game. The Young Lions never looked like they were capable of a comeback, with their indecisiveness and poor final passes in the attacking third.

The pace of Jordan Webb and Firdaus Idros, coupled with the Protectors' neat exchange of passes in the final third, kept the opposition occupied. Afiq Yunos and Juma'at Jantan made their first starts for their respective clubs tonight and while the former was an influential figure for his team, he could not prevent them from going down to a tenth consecutive defeat.

Home won a freekick right outside the Young Lions’ penalty box in the third minute after Sheikh Abdul Hadi felled Indra Sahdan, and duly took the lead from it.

Lee Kwan Woo stepped up and curled a beauty over the wall and past the goalkeeper to score his sixth goal of the season, making him the league’s highest scoring Asian.

After an interchange of passes, Webb was released down the left and unleashed a cross for Hafiz Rahim, whose attempted volley was calmly blocked by Afiq.

The second half a saw a drop in tempo as Home dictated the game to their preference, with Juma'at having to be brought out of the game just past the hour mark after an injury scare.

Home then doubled their lead from a corner, which resulted from Song Ui-Young’s dipping shot that was palmed to safety by Rudy Khairullah.

The resulting corner was played short to Indra Sahdan, who then whipped a cross into the near post. Hafiz  timed his run well to get to the ball first, as he stretched his neck muscles to guide it into the back of the net.

With 10 minutes left to play, Sirina Camara, who was shifted to leftback, played an early low cross to Alif Shafaein but Afiq was alert enough to get onto the end of the cross first.

The Young Lions failed to find any reply to their opponents' goals, leaving them still searching for their first point of the season.
