West Ham are without much of their regular back four, with centre-back James Collins (hamstring) and left-back George McCartney (knee) out injured and full-back Joey O’Brien (hamstring) doubtful, so the inexperienced Dan Potts is set to continue at left-back alongside James Tomkins.

Mark Noble (calf) is set to return from injury alongside the recently recovered Mohamed Diame in central midfield in place of Jack Collison and Alou Diarra, but Yossi Benayoun (knee) is still unavailable.

Striker Modibo Maiga is at the Africa Cup of Nations with Mali, while Andy Carroll (knee) may not yet be fit, but amid strong competition for places in attack Marouane Chamakh could feature at some point.

QPR could name an unchanged back four from their recent league games, with right-back Jose Bosingwa (back) and left-back Armand Traore (knock) unlikely to feature, although Ryan Nelsen is still at the club despite speculation following his appointment as head coach of Toronto FC.

Shaun Derry and Stephane M’Bia could continue in centre midfield, with Samba Diakite away with Mali at the Africa Cup of Nations while Esteban Granero (hamstring) is doubtful.

Strikers Bobby Zamora (hip) and Andy Johnson (knee) are long–term casualties and attacker Junior Hoilett is injured (hamstring), but newly-signed striker Loic Remy could go straight into the team.

  DID YOU KNOW?

  • West Ham have collected just one win in their last eight matches and will be happy to be back at home after their heavy 3-0 defeat at Sunderland last week and FA Cup third round replay defeat against Manchester United.
  • The Hammers are strong at Upton Park, having failed to score in just one home game this season against league champions Manchester City.
  • QPR are bottom of the Premier League table having collected just two wins since their first victory of the season on 15 December.
  • After  three successive defeats over the Christmas period, Harry Redknapp has seen a revivial by the Hoops with away wins over Chelsea and West Brom, and a draw at home to Tottenham.
  • The Hoops have, however, netted just two goals in their last five Premier League matches, and have the worst chance conversion rate in the Premier League, scoring with just 8% of their shots this season.
  • West Ham collected a 2-1 win away at Loftus Road against QPR earlier this season in October, the two clubs’ only meeting since 2004, as Matt Jarvis and Ricardo Vaz Te (pictured right) netted two first-half goals to collect the win despite Adel Taarabt’s individual effort from outside the box.
  • QPR boss Harry Redknapp began his playing career at West Ham before returning as a manager in 1994, leading the club to fifth place in the Premier League in 1999 before leaving in 2001.
