Juventus win Aggregate 4 - 0

Live Commentary

  • Juventus will face Fiorentina in the Europa League last 16 after the Viola defeat Esbjerg 4-1 on aggregate. Vincenzo Montella's side are the only Serie A side to have beaten Antonio Conte's men this season. Thanks for joining me, Max Bentley, on this live commentary. Until next time, goodbye!
  • FT: Trabzonspor 0-2 Juventus (0-4 on aggregate). Antonio Conte's side march into the Europa League last 16 courtesy of goals from Arturo Vidal and Pablo Osvaldo. It was a scintillating performance from the Italian champions who have certainly lived up to their favourites tag for this competition. Trabzonspor goalkeeper Onur deserves a special mention as his heroics denied Juventus from racking up a cricket scoreline.
  • 90' + 1'
Juventus nearly make it three when Pirlo's exquisite pass picks out the run of Osvaldo. However, Onur once again anticipates the danger expertly to rush off his line and make the clearance.
  • 89'
GOOD FINISH TO THE GAME FROM TRABZONSPOR! The Turkish side are looking to bow out of the Europa League with a goal and Ozer sees his curling effort go inches past the post before Yumlu's long-range piledriver is deflected behind for a corner.
  • 87'
Trabzonspor are not giving up hope just yet however and Bourceanu combines neatly with Malouda whose shot veers off target and towards the corner flag.
  • 85'
I think Trabzonspor could play all evening and they still wouldn't find a way to breach this Juventus defence. Ozer goes for the speculative when he attempts to beat Buffon from the halfway line. However, the Azzurri No.1 is alert and looks on nonchalantly as he makes the save.
  • 83'
Onur can certainly take credit from his performance this evening and he comes to the Turkish side's rescue once again as he spreads himself bravely to deny Osvaldo from Isla's cutback.
  • 81'
Trabzonspor prove a rare attacking threat when Zeki gets forward down the left but Ogbonna rises above Janko to head his dangerous cross away from goal.
  • 79'
WHAT A MISS FROM PELUSO! Pirlo allows Giovinco to resume set-piece responsibilities and his free kick is parried by Onur straight into the path of Peluso. The left wing-back is less than six yards out but he somehow sends the rebound inexplicably wide of the target.
  • 77'
ONUR DENIES GIOVINCO AGAIN! Trabzonspor have their goalkeeper to thank that this is not a cricket score as he spreads himself brilliantly to smother Giovinco's shot. Can Juventus score a third goal?
  • 76'
Trabzonspor have been really sloppy in possession this evening and Ozer sums up his side's performance as he sends a pass out of play under no pressure. It's been a very comfortable evening for Buffon in the Juventus goal.
  • 74'
PADOIN GOES CLOSE! The 29-year-old nearly gets his name on the scoresheet as he latches onto Osvaldo's neat backheel before sending a low effort towards the goal. The ball looks to be squirming underneath Onur's midriff but the Trabzonspor goalkeeper reacts quickly to palm it around the post.
  • 72'
    SubstitutionAdrian Mierzejewski Alexandru Bourceanu
Hami Mandirali also opts to make his final change of the game as Romanian midfielder Alexandru Bourceanu comes on to replace Adrian Mierzejewski.
  • 72'
    SubstitutionClaudio Marchisio Andrea Pirlo
Andrea Pirlo receives a warm reception from the travelling Juventus fans as he comes on to replace Claudio Marchisio. Tonight marks his 123rd UEFA club competition appearance.
  • 71'
Isla has been a little quieter in the second half but he picks up Vidal's pass on the wide right and delivers an accurate cross into the box which Osvaldo cannot quite direct on target. Andrea Pirlo is being readied on the touchline.
  • 69'
Ogbonna concedes a needless foul outside the box but his blushes are spared as Buffon gets across his goalmouth quickly to catch Olcan's curling effort.
  • 67'
JANKO HAS A SHOT! The Austrian striker has been an isolated figure in this match and he collects Malouda's pass outside the box before stabbing an effort high over the bar. Hardly his finest attempt.
  • 65'
Mierzejewski is looking to make things happen for Trabzonspor but he is given very little support and sees his left-footed effort well blocked by Ogbonna. The Turkish side have been extremely disappointing in wide areas and I cannot remember the last time Janko touched the ball.
  • 63'
Padoin is looking to make an impression on a rare appearance and he combines well with Ogbonna in the box before seeing his shot slice wide of the target. This Juventus side are blessed with so much strength and depth.
  • 61'
Despite being 4-0 down on aggregate, the Trabzonspor fans are still making a racket and they show support for their team by throwing confetti in the air.
  • 60'
Marchisio is flourishing in Pirlo's deep-lying playmaker role and he sends Osvaldo clear with an incise pass. The on-loan Southampton striker drops his shoulder expertly to dart past Yumlu but he cannot double his tally as his powerful shot flashes over the bar.
  • 58'
    SubstitutionMartín Cáceres Andrea Barzagli
GIOVINCO SHOULD MAKE IT 3-0! Osvaldo beats Osmanpasa in the tackle to spring a counter attack for Juventus and he plays Giovinco clear down the left. The Juventus No.12 races into the box but he cannot provide the decisive finish as his left-footed effort is straight at Onur.
  • 58'
Antonio Conte decides to make his second substitution of the game as Andrea Barzagli replaces Martin Caceres.
  • 56'
Peluso finds space to unleash an effort from the edge of the box but he opts for a difficult cross which fails to pick out Osvaldo and runs out of play. The former Atalanta man lacks precision in key areas.
  • 54'
Giovinco is denied a goal after he latches onto Vidal's neat reverse pass before his dink over Onur is headed off the line by Aykut Demir. I wouldn't be surprised to see him getting on the scoresheet at some point this evening.
  • 52'
Fiorentina have taken the lead against Esbjerg to extend their advantage. It looks like the Viola will be taking on Juventus in the Europa League round of 16.
  • 51'
That's better from Trabzonspor. Malouda combines superbly with Osmanpasa down the left but the former Chelsea man cannot take the ball in his stride and is denied a route to goal. Mandirali applauds the effort on the sidelines.
  • 49'
CHANCE FOR JUVENTUS! Peluso will be hoping to push a little further forward in the second half and he clips a pinpoint cross over the head of Aykut Demir for Osvaldo. However, the former Roma man does not anticipate the cross and his effort loops straight into the hands of Onur.
  • 48'
VIDAL DENIED! The Chilean looks crestfallen as he races onto Bonucci's precise long ball, only to see the linesman's flag raised for offside. On second viewing, he did appear to be onside.
  • 46'
    SubstitutionJosé Bosingwa Caner Osmanpaşa
The teams re-emerge from the tunnel for the second half and Trabzonspor get the match back underway. Hami Mandirali has made a second substitution, with Caner Osmanpasa replacing Jose Bosingwa.
  • HT: Trabzonspor 0-2 Juventus (0-4 on aggregate). Are we seeing this season's Europa League champions? Antonio Conte's side have been magnificent in the opening 45 minutes in Turkey and the two-goal lead really does not give them justice. Arturo Vidal and Pablo Osvaldo are the two men on the scoresheet but the standout performers in that first half for me were Sebastian Giovinco and Mauricio Isla. Trabzonspor have been ripped to pieces in defence and they are yet to test Gianluigi Buffon in the Juventus net.
  • 45'
It's almost becoming a shooting gallery for Juventus here as Isla combines superbly with Vidal once again but Osvaldo cannot steer the ball home at the back post. Juventus have been irresistible in this first half.
  • 43'
STUNNING FROM GIOVINCO! The Juventus No.12 is full of confidence and he nutmegs Yumlu before drifting beyond Zeki with ease. The pacey striker plays a perfectly-weighted outside-of-the-foot pass to release Vidal on the left side of the box but the Chilean cannot provide the finish that the move deserves as his low shot is parried by Onur.
  • 41'
STAT: Antonio Conte is one of only three coaches in the round of 32 who won the UEFA Cup as players, along with PAOK FC's Huub Stevens (PSV, 1978) and Ajax's Frank de Boer (Ajax, 1992).
  • 39'
Pablo Osvaldo has certainly made a bright start to his Juventus career and he sprints towards the Trabzonspor goal once again, only to be denied by Bosingwa's covering challenge. Juventus are certainly living up to their Europa League favourites tag in this one.
  • 37'
    SubstitutionKadir Keleş Zeki Yavru
  • 37'
    SubstitutionPaul Pogba Simone Padoin
  • 37'
A substitution apiece here. Zeki Yumlu goes on at left-back for Trabzonspor to replace Kadir while Paul Pogba is handed a rest ahead of the weekend clash with Milan with Simone Padoin coming on.
  • 35'
Isla is staking a claim for a starting spot in the future as he once again gets into a brilliant position down the right. However, he cannot provide an assist as Giovinco's neat backheel is well saved by Onur.
  • 34'
An injury concern for Trabzonspor here as Kadir goes off on a stretcher. If anything, that may strengthen the Turkish defence because he has been run ragged by Isla.
  • 33'
    Assist Sebastian Giovinco
  • 33'
    Goal D. Osvaldo
OSVALDO MAKES IT 2-0! The on-loan Southampton striker runs over to celebrate with Giovinco as the two link up superbly once again. Yumlu makes a superb block to deny Vidal from doubling his tally but the Trabzonspor defence is breached when Giovinco clips a pinpoint cross into the box for Osvaldo to head home. Juventus have been different class.
  • 32'
Trabzonspor simply cannot penetrate this Juventus backline and they already look devoid of ideas with 32 minutes on the clock. I am surprised that Paulo Henrique did not start this game as he made a superb impact from the bench in Turin.
  • 30'
STAT: Arturo Vidal now has six goals in Europe this season and 17 in all competitions.
  • 29'
Kadir simply cannot deal with Isla down the right wing and the Chilean escapes once again before his teasing low cross just evades Vidal and Osvaldo in the middle. Juventus have now scored in 19 of their previous 21 away matches.
  • 27'
With Lazio crashing out of the Europa League, it seems that Juventus will join fellow Serie A side Napoli in the last 16. A potential last 16 encounter with Fiorentina is on the cards, as the Viola hold a 3-1 advantage over Esbjerg from the first leg.
  • 25'
Just the four goals needed from Trabzonspor then if they are to progress! I will eat my hat if they come back to win this one. *Please note that I am not actually wearing a hat.*
  • 24'
This is a slightly better spell from Trabzonspor but they are yet to test Buffon in the Juventus net. Mierzejewski has a few goals already in this competition but he cannot reduce the deficit as his left-footed shot blazes high over the crossbar.
  • 23'
The Juventus defence have hardly been tested so far but Bonucci shows a few nervous signs as he dallies in possession before passing the ball back for Buffon who gathers in his gloves. The Turkish side feel they should have an indirect free kick and I certainly feel they have a case there.
  • 21'
ANOTHER DISALLOWED GOAL FOR JUVENTUS! It's been a blistering start from Antonio Conte's side and Osvaldo is denied the second goal when Vidal is adjudged to be in an offside position.
  • 18'
    Goal Arturo Vidal
VIDAL GIVES JUVENTUS THE LEAD! That goal was certainly coming. Giovinco is at the heart of it again as he combines expertly with Osvaldo before his shot is excellently saved by Onur. However, the Trabzonspor goalkeeper cannot hold onto the ball and Vidal nips in quickly to rifle a shot into the roof of the net.
  • 18'
Giovinco has made a superb impact on a rare start and he tees up Osvaldo on the left-hand side of the box. The on-loan Southampton striker looks to unlock the Trabzonspor defence as he did a week ago, but Aykut Demir anticipates his intentions expertly and makes a crucial last-ditch challenge.
  • 17'
The 2-0 scoreline certainly flattered Juventus in Turin but I don't think there would be any complaints if the scoreline read 2-0 after the first 17 minutes of this one. Antonio Conte's side have been utterly dominant and Trabzonspor simply have not got out of first gear.
  • 15'
GOAL DISALLOWED FOR JUVENTUS! It seems only a matter of time before the Old Lady take the lead but Peluso is denied on this occasion as he is adjudged offside after Onur had fumbled Bonucci's toe poke.
  • 13'
Antonio Conte is furious on the sideline as his side spurn two more golden chances to take the lead. First, Pogba sees his shot from the edge of the box parried by Onur before Giovinco and then Osvaldo both fail to convert Isla's teasing low cross.
  • 11'
YUMLU TO THE RESCUE! The Turkish side all are over the place at the moment and they immediately gift possession straight back to their opponents. Giovinco's superb flick from Isla's pass gives Vidal a free sight at goal but the Trabzonspor centre-back races back to fling himself in front of the Chilean's angled drive.
  • 9'
With Pirlo handed a rest, it is Giovinco who is on set-piece duty. The diminutive striker sees his teasing free kick deflected behind for a corner before Marchisio stings Onur's fingertips from his well-worked corner. This has been a superb opening from Conte's men.
  • 7'
Florent Malouda has four goals in his last seven matches and he drives forward from deep after collecting Mierzejewski's pass before fizzing a shot towards goal which deflects behind for a corner. From the resulting set piece, Juventus defend well to clear their lines.
  • 5'
ISLA HITS THE POST! Juventus almost make their early pressure count as Osvaldo picks out the unmarked Isla on the right. With Kadir nowhere in sight, the Chilean drives a low shot at goal which deflects off the leg Onur and onto the post. That would have been tie over!
  • 4'
Juventus are playing some intricate one-touch football at the beginning of this game and Vidal's neat flick almost sends his Chilean compatriot Isla through on goal. However, Kadir anticipates the danger excellently and backtracks to make the interception.
  • 2'
Juventus have made a bright start here and they enjoy a sustained spell of possession. Trabzonspor cannot afford to go too gung-ho at the start of this one because an away goal for Juventus would mean that the Turks need to score four to progress.
  • 1'
The teams emerge from the tunnel to a noisy reception from both sets of fans. Juventus, in their traditional black and white jerseys, get the game underway. Trabzonspor are in their traditional claret and blue kit.
  • Trabzonspor have an impressive continental record at home and they are unbeaten in seven European matches at the Huseyin Avni Aker Stadium. In fact, their 2-0 loss to Juventus a week ago ended a run of 12 UEFA games without defeat.
  • JUVENTUS (3-5-2): Buffon; Caceres, Bonucci, Ogbonna; Isla, Vidal, Marchisio, Pogba, Peluso; Osvaldo, Giovinco.
  • TRABZONSPOR (4-3-3): Onur; Bosingwa, Aykut Demir, Yumlu, Kadir; Olcan, Mierzejewski, Zokora; Malouda, Ozer, Janko.
  • JUVENTUS TEAM NEWS: Antonio Conte makes just two changes to the team which got the job done in the first leg as Arturo Vidal and Sebastian Giovinco come in for Andrea Pirlo and Carlos Tevez.
  • TRABZONSPOR TEAM NEWS: Interim coach Hami Mandirali makes three changes to the side which were cruelly beaten 2-0 in the first leg in Turin as Adrian Mierzejewski, Florent Malouda and Marc Janko come into the side.
  • History is very much against Trabzonspor this evening however as the Turkish side have not beaten a Serie A side at home since a 1-0 UEFA Cup first-round victory over Inter in 1982.
  • Despite their healthy advantage, Antonio Conte has warned Juventus that they need to deliver an improved performance at both ends of the pitch if they are to progress. Can Juventus win their first European away game in five attempts? Bringing you all the action from Huseyin Avni Aker, my name is Max Bentley.
  • Juventus look to cement their place in the Europa League last 16 this evening but in order to do so, they will need to avoid another disappointment in Turkey. Antonio Conte's side take a 2-0 lead over Trabzonspor into the second leg but memories of that famous Galatasaray defeat, which knocked them out of the Champions League earlier this season, will still be fresh in their minds.
